With the changing landscape of the telecommunications industry, BT (British Telecom), came to NewLease G2M with a challenge - how to differentiate BT from the competition and how to maintain customer engagement. BT needed a forum where it could not only acquire new customers but also retain existing customers with high value added services that would be hard to beat. The outcome was “BT Tradespace” a community that brings businesses and their customers together to do business and build lasting, relevant relationships. Think of it as a people powered community that enables social business.
The development of Tradespace embraced two key, yet simple insights (1). Small to Medium Sized Business Owners (SMBs) don’t often have the resources or funds available to pull together a web site let alone keep it up to date, and (2). SMBs successes are heavily based on relationships and word of mouth. Tradespace essentially eliminated the need to have a web site, but it also helps to enhance existing web sites, it is free, and it provides an open forum for people, business and customers alike, to come together to shop, promote, sell and meet like-minded people.
Today, BT Tradespace is a thriving community with around 360,000 members and is still growing. Tradespace also awards BT a forum to build brand loyalty and to promote its own offers in a non invasive environment. After all, we are all defined by relationships; they influence almost all aspects of our lives, both personal and professional and then there is BT Tradespace.
